Brad Houston Portfolio

This project was built there and then after a company I wanted to work for asked me for a portfolio. Taking less than 10 hours to create from scratch, the Brad Houston portfolio website is simple and does what it was made to do perfectly! I made just the one concept for ths site and was happy with my 1st attempt so I went on to develop the concept into a working website. This site will grow as I create more sites.

I gave the site a "paper CV" feel, writing your CV on a desk whilst your desk is full of junk, whilst keeping the clean website feel at the same time.

firstthere

Firstthere (via moore wilson)

For 'firstthere' I redesigned the template to a cleaner, more compatible template. The site needed to be compatible with all major browsers which is what I have done, I gave this site a light glassy feel... here's an extract from the site:

"Welcome to firstthere

Welcome to firstthere, a Payroll, Communication and Benefits solution for workers and the employers of temporary & migrant workers.

firstthere is simple to use and cost efficient for workers especially those who are new to the UK. firstthere makes managing money easy.

firstthere allows employers to save time and cut costs across the board. What's more, firstthere helps employers to manage compliance with potential National Minimum Wage issues such as collecting transport and other service payments from workers.

firstthere's innovative range of services and benefits is packaged around Prepaid MasterCard® cards. The firstthere service is delivered by market-leading card payment and software providers and is endorsed by the Association of Labour Providers

BlueCube Security (via moore wilson)

Bluecube wasn't designed by me but the moore wilson designers. I had to turn an image into a fully fuctional website built through a CMS (content management system). Here is some copy from the "About Us" section of the site:

"Blue Cube was founded in 2000 after CEO and founder, Gary Haycock-West identified a gap in the market for a vendor independent IT solution provider that specialised in delivering solutions that truly mirrored organisational needs. Its success comes from its ability to offer truly impartial expert consultancy and a commitment to delivering excellence.

The Blue Cube ethos is to offer fully independent and accurate advice providing the expertise, technology and management skills to help identify where to protect, what to protect and how to protect corporate IT resources and enable secure access for authorised users.

Staff at Blue Cube are passionate about achieving an impeccable level of customer service. Its project managers use a structured results focused approach to define appropriate high-level solutions and drive through to fully optimised products, accelerating time to deployment and bottom line benefits for clients.

3. about me

Bradley James Houston

Name: Bradley James Houston
Age: 22
Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire

Where did it start?

My passion for web design started when I lived in Marlborough with my auntie and uncle. I didnt take IT or any design oriented work, all the spare time I had during my GCSE's went into playing online text based browser games. After playing for about 6 months I thought I'd see how they were made, so I downloaded a trial of Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Obviously I had no idea what it took to make a game! I started with designing simple templates following tutorials, and after a few months I had made a full front end of a game. It wasn't great but it was a good start! I just clicked with the code and with Photoshop, and from there I completed my GCSE's, moved back to Salisbury with my mum and attended Salisbury College where I took Advanced System Support and Electronics.

I ended up dropping out of college to work at PC World where I learned alot about PCs and general geekism! From there I took a break from being a geek and worked in a few kitchens and that is when I realised how much I actually liked designing and wanted to do it as a job/career! I looked up local businesses and applied for pretty much all of them knowing I may not get a reply because I had no portfolio nor any qualifications, but one company called me in for an interview which went very well and I was offered the job a few days later to be a part of their development team. I didnt get to design much but I learned a bit about content management systems and how far and deep web development can go! There are no limits to what you can do with all these languages. Some of the team saw my design skills and started using me to design aspects of sites in my spare work time.

In my spare time...

I DJ and produce music, im a massive Trance, Electro, House fan... I love Ibiza and the love the whole music culture, If im not doing this im out socializing...

Where i want to go...
